- Signed lower left; slight foxing
- Swinton Diston used the pseudonym V. Deschamps at times
- Swinton Diston was born in Scotland and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, and became an enthusiastic water-colourist
- Much of his work was exhibited in Royal Academy and Royal Scottish Academy shows
- He migrated to Australia in 1886 and by the early 1900s exhibited widely, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hobart, Launceston and Broken Hill, and was also a well-known art gallery guide and lecturer
- Lovely frame; minor chips; frame and work in excellent condition considering age (c1900)
